Foot Orthotics
- How much will my Foot Orthotics cost?
- The cost of Foot Orthotics varies from $450 to $650 depending on the type of the device designed and created for you.
- Can I get my Foot Orthotics wet?
- Foot Orthotics can get wet without harm, however it is advised that the moisture be kept to a minimum and that the device is dried (just air dry – no heat) if they do become wet.
- Do I need a larger shoes size to fit my Foot Orthotics?
- It may be necessary to increase the length or width of your shoes by a half size depending on the shoe style however, it is not always necessary. Your Orthotist will be able to advise you on your shoe selection.
- Can I wear different kinds of shoes with my Foot Orthotics?
- Your Foot Orthotics can be moved between shoes as long as the shoes are of appropriate style to function well with your devices. Your Orthotist will be able to advise you on your shoe selection.
- How long will my Foot Orthotics last?
- Foot Orthotics will last anywhere between two to five years depending on the amount of use and environment.
- How do I maintain and/or clean my Foot Orthotics?
- There is no need to maintain your Foot Orthotics in any way other than cleaning them. You can clean them using warm water and a mild soap with a soft cloth to wipe all surfaces. Once clean they should be left to air-dry (do not heat your orthotics to dry them).
- Will my insurance cover the costs?
- Many insurance policies cover the cost of Foot Orthotics, as do health spending accounts or equivalent. However, some do not, and it is always advisable to consult with your insurance provider to confirm coverage. Our Client Services team can help with this process if necessary.
- Will OHIP cover the costs of my Foot Orthotics?
- Foot Orthotics are no longer a part of the OHIP fees and they are not funded by healthcare.
- What is the warranty for my Foot Orthotics?
- Please see our warranty card in “Client Information”.
- Can Foot Orthotics be repaired?
- In some instances Foot Orthotics can be repaired and adjusted to account for physiological changes or damage to the devices, though not always.
- What can be done to accommodate growth for my child who wears Foot Orthotics?
- As children grow, a schedule will be set to review the fit of devices. Some accommodations can be built into the device to account for changes. However, there will come a point where the devices have been “outgrown” and must be re-made.
Braces:
- How much will my Braces cost?
- The cost of Braces is extremely variable and only once the design is complete can an estimate be provided. However, we will always provide these estimates so that you are aware a head of time what the costs will be.
- Can I get my Braces wet?
- Braces can get wet without harm, however it is advised that the moisture be kept to a minimum and air-dry the devices if they do become wet (never heat your braces to dry them).

- Can Braces be repaired?
- In many instances Braces can be repaired and adjusted to account for physiological changes or damage to the devices, though not always. An Orthotist will need to assess each situation individually to determine the requirements.
- What can be done to accommodate growth for my child who wears Braces?
- As children grow, a schedule will be set to review the fit of devices. Some accommodations can be built into the device to account for changes. However, there will come a point where the devices have been “outgrown” and must be re-made. An Orthotist will need to assess each situation individually to determine the requirements.
- How much will my Braces weigh?
- Depending on the design and size of the braces created for you, the weight can be quite variable and difficult to estimate. However, in our experience, devices are often a fraction of the weight of most users “best guesses”.
- Do I sleep with my Braces?
- Some braces, which are specifically designed for night use will be worn at night, however in most cases you do not sleep in braces.
Prostheses:
- How much will my Prosthesis(es) cost?
- The cost of Prostheses are extremely variable and only once the design is complete can an estimate be provided. However, we will always provide these estimates so that you are aware a head of time what the costs will be.
- Can I get my Prosthesis wet?
- In general, Prostheses can get wet without harm, however it is advised that the moisture be kept to a minimum and air-dry the devices if they do become wet (never heat your Prosthesis to dry them). There are some new designs and computer controlled options which cannot get wet; your Prosthetist will make you aware if this is the case.
- Can I swim in my Prosthesis?
- It is not advisable to swim in your Prosthesis. There are swim and/or shower devices available. Discuss this situation with your Prosthetist if you require these features.
- Can I wear different kinds of shoes with my Prosthesis?
- Your Prosthesis has been fit and the function has been optimized to accommodate a shoe of specific height and heel-to-toe height ratios. Many different shoes can be worn without issue as long as these ratios are maintained and/or the heights are the same. Often experienced Prosthetic users are able to function quite well even if these ratios are interrupted slightly.
- How long will my Prosthesis last?
- Prosthetic appliances will last anywhere between two to five years depending on the amount of use and environment.
